Troll in the Bowl: Retro-Revolution Edition™ is a soon-to-be screen-free Halloween tradition built around imagination, participation, and heart.

It began, as many ancient tales do… with a newborn.

When a troll is born, they are carefully wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a sacred bowl carved from a fallen limb of the Sharwynn tree. By this ritual, they are pair-bonded to their bowl—they will always know where it rests, no matter how far.

But when our young troll begins behaving like trolls of old, his Mother can no longer abide it. In disappointment, she takes his bowl and withholds his name:

“Upon this family you’ve brought great shame,
I’ll take your bowl and not speak your name.”

His Mother sends the bowl—filled to the brim with Halloween candy—to you, a trusted family, and more importantly, to a child who may help him find his way again.

Come October, our mischievous young troll leaves his home in Trollhättan and embarks on a quest to reclaim his bowl. Through hide-and-seek, imaginative play, Mythic Virtue Cards, flexible rules, and an unfolding interactive story, children help him learn to share, show kindness, and become the troll he was meant to be.

Troll in the Bowl is a tale of imagination, growth, redemption, and family participation—where the child is not being watched… but instead becomes the guide.

Our troll is no all-powerful observer. He is flawed. He makes mistakes. But he also learns. He is simply a mischievous little being trying to find his bowl—and perhaps himself along the way.

And with a child’s help, he changes, just as they change with him.

Through play, patience, creativity, and shared imagination, the child guides the troll toward kindness and belonging. And when his journey is complete, he may return home at last… with his bowl restored, and his name spoken once more.

P.S. One day, his bowl may hold more than candy… but that is a tale for another time.
