AI Is Our Sketchbook, Not Our Artist

At Pixelchimp Studios, we believe in the need for human connection and the undeniable power of imagination and physical play. While our little troll may reside in a fantasy world, we live in the real one—AI is here, it will affect virtually every industry, and it isn’t going anywhere.

We’re building a world that requires substantial visual content—social media, pitch materials, multiple image iterations. We can’t afford $500-1,000 per illustration during the pre-funding phase—no independent creator can. AI lets us take a rough sketch of our little troll and bring him to life. Then his life gets us funded, and a great deal of those funds will go to human artists crafting real images.

We’ve also used AI as a digital research assistant to help find the people and companies that will help bring our troll to life, and to compile massive amounts of marketing data into a usable format. But the soul of this troll belongs to the artistry and creativity of the human spirit. Every piece of final artwork—from book illustrations to rune cards and scroll designs—will be hand-rendered or thoughtfully re-created by human artists before a single product ships.

We’re using tomorrow’s technology to build a bridge back to a simpler time— when sticks became a noble knight’s sword and a towel the cloak of a beloved princess. But we will never replace the human hand, human judgment, or human imagination in our creative process.

We’ve spent decades in the creative world, and we know firsthand that while tools may change, craft still matters. The troll you'll hold? Hand-sculpted. The book you'll read? Hand-illustrated. The cards your kids will trade? Hand-drawn.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read about our little troll and his role in hopefully putting at least a small but positive dent in the world. Hopefully, your child or someone you know will help him become the troll he was meant to be.
